Redbridge Life: Asian Roots at Redbridge Museum

Asian Roots at Redbridge Museum

Asian Roots is a new exhibition at Redbridge Museum based on oral history interviews by the Ilford-based group, the Community Development Institute (CDI), supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The exhibition looks at the journeys people of South Asian origin have taken to settle in Redbridge and their varied lives once here. The eye catching displays highlight the influence of music, fashion, family life, religion and education on different generations of the South Asian community over the past 50 years. A series of listening posts give visitors the opportunity to listen to the experiences of local teachers, business owners, community workers and homemakers.
Family events with an Asian theme will be run during the May half-term.
